CLASSIFIES THE AIRSPACE DEFINED IN THIS NOTAM AS 'NTL DEFENSE
AIRSPACE'. PILOTS WHO DO NOT ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING PROC MAY BE
INTERCEPTED, DETAINED AND INTERVIEWED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT/SECURITY
PERSONNEL. ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL ACTIONS MAY ALSO BE TAKEN
AGAINST A PILOT WHO DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE RQMNTS OR ANY SPECIAL

I never got the pilot's license. I'm about the only one in my crowd who didn't. Thought about it, never quite got the time or money. One expensive hobby (ham radio) is plenty.

These NOTAMs (NOTices to Air Men, old name, never changed in the gender equality era) are on the FAA page. The airplane mentioned here is kind of weird, one of a flight of several military aircraft that came down here for the Stupor Bowl. They were being refueled by a KC-10 tanker orbiting over LA at high altitude. They do squawk unique codes, not just generic military things, but those come back to a P-51 collection. P-51s are from WWII and they don't whoosh. Someone's got bad information on whatever lookup table they're using.

There are actually 7 pages of instructions but I only made you spend your time on the best one. LAX stayed open all through it, but with a lot of extra rules, as if flying in the covid era didn't have a lot of rules already.

Speaking of rules, an advisory just came over twitter that travelers must put Stupor Bowl programs in separate bins all by themselves for TSA screening at the airport. The programs set off some alarm. Any bag with one in it must be inspected by hand. That includes checked baggage.

As I so often say in Los Angeles, WTF??????

The culprit seems to be an expensive hologram on the program's cover. Twitter's melting down with tweets from various agencies trying to get the word out to travelers before the airport system does a meltdown of its own.

Downtown LA now in full riot mode. Crowd has set fire to a bus full of people. Cops are engaging large crowds which throw bottles and fireworks. Unlawful assembly declared. Soon many buses arriving at the jail full of fresh shipments of suspects.

Street takeovers in at least three other sites. One in the valley, one in east LA, one in the area east of Inglewood near where the big riot started after the Rodney King disaster. Varying levels of engagement with cops, property damage, etc..
