Tucker Calls Reporter Who Unmasked ‘Libs of TikTok’ Creator a German Stooge
https://www.thedailybeast.com/tucker-ca ... man-stooge

Tucker Carlson on Tuesday night wondered aloud why Taylor Lorenz, the author of a Washington Post story earlier in the day on the popular Twitter account “Libs of TikTok,” isn’t registered as a foreign agent.

In the piece, the reporter makes note of findings from software developer Travis Brown that helped her reveal the right-wing account’s creator, Brooklyn-based real-estate agent Chaya Raichik. Specifically, Brown uncovered deleted tweets from the account, including those in which Raichik claimed she attended the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Brown, Lorenz notes, receives support from the German-based Prototype Fund. The fund, according to its website, “supports ideas in civic tech, data literacy, data security and software infrastructure” with money from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

That funding, Carlson claimed, proves that “what happened to the woman who runs Libs of TikTok—her life being destroyed—was not the work of Taylor Lorenz... it was a foreign intelligence operation designed to silence and intimidate an American citizen.”

[snip][end]

First off, though I understand the need for anonymity, :D , the thing is, Raichik was increasingly making nasty and unfounded allegations about people on TikTok being so-called predators and groomers while hiding behind hers. That to me isn't "doxxing". What Lorenz did is called reporting. And I guess in Tuckums-Land once getting a grant from a foreign foundation makes you a foreign agent?

Why am I not surprised the man from warped horseshoe-land, Glenn Greenwald, is in on this pile on? I thought a gay guy might get why it's not a good idea to accuse gays and others on TikTok of being pedos, and the source of such attacks should be revealed, but ...
Greenwald, like Andrew Sullivan, like Milo, like Dave Rubin and some of these other people, they're just more conservative whites, afaik.

And hey, so was Ernst Röhm. Only reason to keep making the comparison is because Milo actually called himself that. :?

No integrity, no ethics, totally amoral, but they know what side their bread is buttered on, so good for them, I guess.

If attacked on the basis of their sexuality, I could defend them, and I have in the past, though these cons would never defend me for any reason. But it's interesting that they generally don't get attacked from the right for that. Yet.

Give it time; they will. Like Ernst, they are the first to go under the regimes they're currently trying to put in office.

One other detail I want to note:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libs_of_TikTok

Libs of TikTok was likewise criticized, with some outlets noting that the account targets individuals for harassment, posting information including their names and workplaces.

[snip]

The account posts personal information, including names and information about workplaces, of users it targets.

[snip][end]

Yeah, smell the hypocrisy. Raichik is angry over being "doxxed" by Lorenz, but whenever she (often very inaccurately and falsely) accuses teachers of being so-called "groomers", she usually posts all their personal information, and tries to get them fired.

What is good for the goose, once again, not good for the gander.

P.S. Lorenz did not post her personal info like her address and I think didn't discuss her religion, though yeah, that stuff is knowable. I love how some folks are saying what Lorenz did is anti-Semitism. No, I don't think she should be fired as a realtor, but it's fair to hold her accountable for this behavior.

Greenwald said on, where else, Tuckum's show (he has been on a lot), that Lorenz targeted her because of her ideology. No, she can certainly anonymously express whatever beliefs she wants about gay, trans, or whatever else, THAT was not the problem with what she was doing - she was trying to falsely "expose" teachers and GET THEM FIRED.

Yes this is definitely a follow the money story. All the fascist A-listers, including Christina Pushaw, wasted NO time in closing ranks around this person. She is pretty clearly a paid-off James O'Keefe-style provocateur and propagandist. This is totally a Project Veritas MO.

I wonder, though, if these geniuses don't realize how much of what they do immediately gives them away. But then...they're playing to the algorithms, not actual people. So there's that.

This is the type of thing the head of communications for Ron DeSantis is spending her time on. Florida's tax dollars at work.

I've been following this story and do not like the fact that Desantis is only doing this for political retribution.
But
On the other hand I can't imagine progressives being in favor of a corporation having special district governing authority.

So he's going after Disney because they spoke out against him.

And you want to make this man President. What would he do against dissenters with the power of the Presidency?

It's a weird history. Uncle Walt wrangled himself a weird sweetheart deal for a special land district in 1967 when he announced he was opening WDW here in FL.

Reedy Creek Improvement District
https://www.rcid.org

The bottom line is, yeah, it's nuts, the Mouse actually operates its own police, fire, and its own jail. It is a special privilege they were granted in the late 60s. The thing is, it's been around for decades. NOW all of a sudden they have a problem with it?

Here's the reality. Disney is one of the biggest employers in Central Florida, pours HUGE amounts of tax revenue into state coffers, and brings in huge amounts of tourism into a heavily tourism-dependent state. DeStupid knows this; they are biting a hand that feeds them; and I'm not talking about all the checks they used to write for the GOP, either.

It's unclear what will happen if they really do revoke it. Disney is NOT going to just pul up stakes and leave Orlando. But I'm not sure Orange County (FL) will be happy with this either.

The biggest irony is he's also attacking a special exemption they were granted earlier last year by himself and his staff.
https://www.techdirt.com/2022/04/19/it- ... at-disney/

So, here's all the dumbth in depth. First off, the social media bill was ridiculous. Secondly, the way Disney was exempted by the bill was both ridiculous and possibly unconstitutional. Probably never should have happened in the first place; it was obviously silly favoritism. But all that said, it was so weird and ironic he's threatening an exemption he gave them in the first place.

The Troll has bought into the filty lies of the Cult of the Traitor. He claims he would never vote for the Traitor, but he continues to support and defend the Traitor. The Troll thinks he can say on thing and do another. He cannot.

IF the Troll defends the Traitor, IF the Troll supports the Traitor then he walks hand in hand with what the Traitor is and what the Traitor does.

He may or may not vote for Traitor, but by his words he knows who and what the Traitor is and then he is more than willing to follow the Traitor, which what he does.

You know the most interesting thing about reading the Indiana KKK newspapers from the 1920s?

They’re even more dishonest than the White Citizens Council publications.

It’s page after page after page of them saying they’re not political, all while running members for statehouse and governor, that they’re constantly under physical attack just because people disagree with them, that they’re unfairly treated by the press, that they’re not anti-negro, that they’re simply innocent Protestants just trying to live their lives. :?

Conservative whites have not altered their violent victimhood MO in at least 100 solid years. That’s what they’re doing in Florida in particular, and a ton of other states.

As a Floridian, I would strongly disagree with the claim he has "successfully" governed Florida.

You can respond to this with all the polls and approval ratings you want. I can only tell you I have a lot of threads that suggest to me he's doing anything but. I look at his actions. He does a lot of unpopular "culture war" things, puts nut jobs into state Cabinet positions, rarely tackles the economic problems in the state, I guess that appeals to some people, just not to me.

He may have actual beliefs, but I do remember my Mom said one thing about him that I remember, before she died. He probably beat Gillum in his first election largely because unlike Rick Scott, he didn't run as a open Tea Partier and made himself seem more moderate. '

He morphed into a Trumpist largely because I think less he is doing what is best for FL, and more he is doing what is best for Ron for Prez 2024, to the detriment of FL. Oh and one more thing ... I do know some FL Republicans and quietly they have said the same thing to me, too.

He turned down money to feed poor children because he and his base assumed most of those children were POC etc.

DeSatan is one of the worst humans on earth and most dangerous so it is no surprise board con loves him.

It isnt an "opinion" that he is bad and dangerous, it is a proven fact. Board con loves him FOR that reason.

How do you talk to someone who values in a political party an agenda that says not only will we do nothing about climate change global warming but it doesn't even exist?

How do you talk to someone who values in a political party making laws that bullies small children in school because of who their parents are?

How do you talk to someone who values in a political party the overt attempt to destroy democracy, gerrymander the districts beyond recognition?

I like Larry Hogan.

That doesn't mean I'd vote for him. Depends on the opponent. :D

I do remember when FL had Democratic governors. Seems like a long, long time ago. I met the last one, Lawton Chiles. I worked for another, Bob Graham. (Not when he was governor.)

All this is aside from my point - I think deSantis barely won against Gillum largely by selling himself as being more moderate than Rick Scott. Then he did an about-face and went Trumpist. But speaking about inner conviction, though I don't have telepathy, it really seems to a lot of people in this state, and not just Dems like me, his move to the Trumpist right was less about what was best for FL and more what was best for Ron for the GOP 2024 primaries, getting the Trumpist base vote.

He is running that state into the ground. Your response: you "do not like the fact that Desantis is only doing this for political retribution. "
DeSantis has been involved in government and knows how government works. Something Trump still doesn't know.
The DeSantis government consists of anti-Black voter suppression, building a political brand on attacking nonexistent school curricula, and pandering to the worst of white-conservative bigotry.
DeSantis isxa good family man. Something Trump has never been.
One of the most appealing things about DeSantis to conservatives is apparently his legal attacks on vulnerable familes, such as families with trans children.

The attack on women's and reproductive rights and 15 week abortion ban is directly anti-family.
DeSantis is intelligent and well educated. Something that Trump isnt.
You are the last person on earth qualified to discuss what it means to be well-educated.
DeSantis is a popular governor a successful governor and has actually beliefs.
You should take a class in argument and persuasion. Honestly, you should take a class in anything.

But this is a classic appeal to popularity fallacy or bandwagonism, really the only one you invoke when talking about why you like this religious extremist.

Bandwagonism is a bad habit of people who wait to see what everybody else is doing, since you're unable to make independent decisions for yourself.

Every time you play this popularity/polls card for DeCaskets, I'm going to highlight your bandwagonism problem.

Biden is a disaster Harris has shown herself to be not qualified.
There is nothing at all disastrous about Biden except his immigration policies, which I notice you're silent on.

Of course Harris is "not qualified," and I'm glad that she never will be, to bigots like you. The qualifications for you guys are being white or pliant to white conservatism, culturally stunted, socially conservative, ignorant, provincial, and undereducated.
The rest of the democratic party field are far left wing liberals.
You are so far to the right, Richard Nixon is a far left wing liberal. Not exaggerating. This post of yours is just one more proof.

Appeals to popularity are useful for people who are unable to think for themselves. So they let everyone else do their thinking for them.

It's one of the most obvious forms of intellectual laziness there is.

What Is the Bandwagon Fallacy? - Thoughtco
Is the opinion of the majority always valid?
Yes it is, to majoritarian-supremacists.

(Unless the topic is South Africa. Then they have much different feelings about majoritarianism.)
Bandwagon is a fallacy based on the assumption that the opinion of the majority is always valid: that is, everyone believes it, so you should too. It is also called an appeal to popularity, the authority of the many, and argumentum ad populum (Latin for "appeal to the people"). Argumentum ad populum proves only that a belief is popular, not that it's true. The fallacy occurs, says Alex Michalos in Principles of Logic, when the appeal is offered in place of a convincing argument for the view in question.

Examples

• "Carling Lager, Britain's Number One Lager" (advertising slogan)
• "The Steak Escape. Americas Favorite Cheesesteak" (advertising slogan)
• "[Margaret] Mitchell enhanced the GWTW [Gone With the Wind] mystique by never publishing another novel. But who would be so churlish as to want more? Read it. Ten million (and counting) Americans can't be wrong, can they?" (John Sutherland, How to be Well Read. Random House, 2014)

I too have the same questions.

So far, when glenn has been asked what has deSantis successfully done in Florida, his answer has basically been "he's popular". Well, without getting into the question of the relevance of those polls and methodology and whatever else, or looking at how it varies based on respondent demographics ...

OK. That is a bit like asking is Putin successfully running Russia, and the answer back is, "Well Putin is popular." Uh, well, again, all kinds of questions there.... particularly are Russians for example really being given all the info about the Ukraine War, and what happens to people who speak out against him ... is saying "Putin is popular" "proof" "he's running Russia successfully?" That is the exact problem with 'bandwagonism'.

Dunno, seems once in a while we seem to come back to the point that the way to judge that question is the policies he supports and whether they are good for Florida.

OK again I return to -- so far all I've seen glenn say about (so-called) "Don't Say Gay" bill is that it doesn't bother him. Cool. I kind of have a higher threshold. Why was the law even necessary? And if it's not necessary, why was it passed in the first place? I kind of start with first questions like that.

I say that because that same question could be applied to a lot of the "culture war" policies deSantis has imposed over the last year or so.

DeSantis is claiming there are things in FL's math textbooks no one can find. Again, burden of proof. Why is it if these books are objectionable to FL students, he can't produce for the publishers examples of what it is that are objectionable? Isn't it a bit weird the rejected textbooks are scoring higher on the state's own BEST standards than the one he selected instead? For sure, he needs to give FL parents and voters an answer?
