Stan Bowman steps down as GM for U.S. men's national team amid Blackhawks scandal
After stepping aside from his role as general manager of the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, Stan Bowman did the same with the U.S. men's national hockey team for the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
These two moves come as a result of the findings from an investigation into allegations that Blackhawks management failed to act promptly and appropriately after a sexual-assault incident between a member of the coaching staff and a player during the team's 2010 Stanley Cup championship run.

Major stores are dropping Lorex and Ezviz surveillance products made in China because of links to human rights abuse in China.
Most shoppers have likely become accustomed to certain products not being available amid a myriad of supply chain issues and the ongoing pandemic. But over the last two years, many companies have also banded together to remove controversial products from their stores. Department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom banned animal fur products following decades of protests, while grocery stores like Kroger and Costco have banned the sell of Chaokoh coconut milk over allegations that the company uses cruel practices against monkeys. Now, several major U.S. retailers have started pulling certain items from stores following links to alleged human rights abuses. Read on to find out what you won't be able to buy from Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy, and other major retailers.
Several major U.S. retailers are no longer selling surveillance technology from Chinese manufacturers Lorex and Ezviz, as reported by TechCrunch on Oct. 25. According to the news outlet, Home Depot recently stopped selling both Lorex and Ezviz products, while a Best Buy spokesperson told TechCrunch that it was "discontinuing its relationship" with both manufacturers before pulling the items from its stores. Lowe's also removed Lorex products from stores, according to the news outlet, and there are no results for Ezviz products now listed on this retailer's website.
According to TechCrunch, both Lorex and Ezviz have been linked to alleged human rights abuses. Lorex is controlled by Dahua Technology, while Ezviz is owned by Hikvision. Both these parent companies, which are headquartered in China, were added to a blacklist of Chinese organizations for being implicated in human rights violations against Muslim minority groups in 2019, according to the Federal Register. As a result, organizations on this list have more barriers against them when attempting to do business with American companies, but since Lorex and Ezviz are subsidiaries of the two tech firms, U.S. consumers have previously been able to buy their technology, as reported by TechCrunch.

A group of 21 Democratic U.S. representatives sent a letter to House leadership on Wednesday calling for a proposed bank reporting rule to be removed from the $2 trillion dollar budget reconciliation bill.

Tricare, the military's healthcare system, has dropped Walmart and Sam's Club from approved pharmacies and has reinstated CVS pharmacies.
Military community beneficiaries who use Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies will have to go elsewhere to fill their prescriptions, as those pharmacies leave the Tricare network as of Dec. 15.
“Walmart declined several opportunities to offer more highly competitive discounts to continue to serve Tricare beneficiaries,” said Express Scripts officials, in a statement to Military Times. Express Scripts is the contractor that manages the Tricare Pharmacy Program, which serves 9.6 million active duty, retirees and family members.
Officials are adding CVS Pharmacy back into the network pharmacy mix, also effective Dec. 15, after a five-year hiatus. “This change provides more competitive rates for the Tricare pharmacy benefit and expands quality, convenient pharmacy choices nationwide,” Express Scripts officials said.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- If not for a rash of injuries to the Green Bay Packers, Rasul Douglas might have still been on the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad instead of intercepting a pass in the end zone of their own stadium to beat them.
Yes, the game-saving hero in the Packers' 24-21 victory at State Farm Stadium on Thursday was on the Cardinals' practice squad 22 days earlier. That's when the Packers, with opening-day starting cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Kevin King both banged up, gave him the call.

Kinzinger Announces He’s Leaving Congress, Says ‘This Is Not the End of My Political Career But the Beginning’
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), a GOP critic of former President Donald Trump, announced on Friday that he will not run for re-election.

I would challenge an incumbent in a seemingly unwinnable race for Congress,” said Kinzinger, who served in the Air Force and was first elected in 2010 by defeating incumbent Rep. Debbie Halvorson (D-IL), in a video he posted on Twitter. “At that time, I was spurred to run by my conviction of our role in the world. Somehow I won, and I’ll never forget that campaign. Two neo-Nazi members sentenced to prison.
Don't let the cell door hit your ass on the way in.Two neo-Nazi group members were sentenced on Thursday to nine years in prison each in a case that highlighted a broader federal crackdown on far-right extremists.
FBI agents arrested former Canadian Armed Forces reservist Patrik Jordan Mathews, U.S. Army veteran Brian Mark Lemley Jr. and a third member of a group called The Base four days before a pro-gun rally in Virginia in January 2020. Surveillance equipment installed in their Delaware apartment captured Mathews and Lemley discussing an attack at the rally at Virginia’s Capitol in Richmond.
The judge who sentenced Mathews and Lemley to prison concluded that they intended to engage in terrorist activity. U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang’s decision to apply a “terrorism enhancement” to their sentences significantly increased their recommended prison terms under federal guidelines.

Two Lancaster, PA. cops fired for submitting fake COVID-19 vaccination cards. Both are now under criminal investigation.
Good luck in finding jobs in law enforcement. Two Pennsylvania police officers are facing criminal investigations after they were fired for submitting fake COVID-19 vaccination cards to their department.
The two officers in the city of Lancaster were busted after they openly discussed their fake vaccination cards at work, according to a report from Lancaster Online.
"Heather Schaeffer got a blank vaccination card from her cousin, who is in the military and involved in vaccination efforts, made a copy and sold it to Benjamin Lapp for $20," the site reports. "According to Schaeffer and Lapp's termination paperwork, Capt. Richard Mendez learned in September that the two 'had been openly speaking about having fraudulent COVID-19 vaccination cards.' Both admitted submitting the forged cards during a Sept. 22 interview with police officials, the paperwork said. Lapp also told the officials that Schaeffer had other fraudulent cards and was possibly selling them."
Lancaster doesn't require employees to be vaccinated, but those who've gotten the jab are allowed to go mask-less in city facilities, according to the report. The local district attorney's office has opened a criminal investigation into the two fired officers, but charges have not yet been filed.
