Thus explaining why Baltimore is the latest city to be ranted about in drumpf's military threats.
As if the military could stop crime.
The military was designed for situations where the place in question must be absolutely positively destroyed overnight.

Re: Bye
The military doesn't want to police American cities and the American public doesn't want them to do that either. The MAGAts will counter that anyone who disagrees with the Orange Turd's sending troops to American cities hates our military. Hopefully, more Americans will come to the realization that all the MAGAts really have it hateful, intimidating words and that those they put in charge are authoritarians who don't give a damn about anyone but themselves.
Military use in American cities is rare and only for instances of rioting or natural disasters. New Orleans is an example of the military policing a city in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Lt.General Honore did it right when was in the streets of New Orleans ordering his troops to lower their weapons to demonstrate they were there for protection and help and not an occupying force.

Re: Bye
Honore did an amazing job, and did a lot to rebuild respect for the military after the trauma of Viet Nam was exacerbated by a few generals shooting off their mouths about turning sovereign nations into parking lots because their leaders didn't like us.
Katrina was an effective use of military capability. As we all know, logistics are important to anything a military does, and as a consequence they tend to be very good at it. They got their orders, they went to New Orleans, and they got to work. Job well done.

Re: Bye
The military is experienced in moving people and equipment around the country and around the world. I've prepared field medical hospitals and clinics for deployment in the U.S. for field exercises and for overseas locations and it always amazed me how easy and efficiently they did it. My end in the logistic chain was ensuring the material was properly packed and palletized, hazardous cargo documents properly filled out (big fine and possible jail time for errors on the documents), the paperwork for the pallets completed, and I coordinated the transportation from my building to the base aerial port. That was the easy part. The hardest part was in preparing the medical supplies and equipment. I/we had to log each item in the computer with it's stock number, nomenclature, unit of issue, quantity, manufacturer, lot number (if available), model number, serial number (if it had one), pallet number, and box number. This I/we did as part of our daily workload.

Utah judge orders new congressional maps for 2026 in another redistricting twist
A Utah district judge has ruled that the state must redraw its congressional districts because the state’s Republican-controlled Legislature erred when it overruled a ballot measure passed by voters that sought to rein in partisan gerrymandering.
The ruling adds yet another wrinkle to the national battle for control of Congress next year — and how the congressional map is evolving ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

SI:AM | College Coaching Carousel Gets Moving Early With UCLA, Virginia Tech Firings
The college football season just started, and a couple of high-profile schools are already looking for new coaches.
On Sunday, UCLA and Virginia Tech became the first schools to fire their coaches this season. The Bruins dismissed DeShaun Foster three games into his second season in charge, and the Hokies canned Brent Pry after a little more than three years at the helm. Both coaches suffered embarrassing losses this weekend to drop to 0–3 on the season. UCLA got stomped, 35–10, by New Mexico at home on Friday and Virginia Tech got blown out at home by Old Dominion in a game that wasn’t even as close as the 45–26 final score would make it seem.

UCLA football has been the cure for happiness since their last decent coach bolted to the NFL, and that was a long time ago. The alumni gave up and stopped recruiting, and the program crashed and burned. They spent a fortune on improved facilities, but they lost access to improved players.

A bid to create a casino in the middle of Times Square appears to be dead in the water.
A community advisory committee voted no on Wednesday to move forward the casino bid from SL Green Realty Corporation, Caesars Entertainment and Roc Nation and Live Nation. The group planned to convert the existing 54-story office building at 1515 Broadway, which includes the Minskoff Theatre, the longtime home of The Lion King, as well as the Viacom headquarters, into the casino. The plans called to build the casino above the Broadway theater, as well as create a luxury hotel, restaurant and entertainment spaces in the building.
