I’ve never been a fan of “constitutional” carry laws. I’ve always believed that more of a duty is owed the public.

However, I also understand in an age where we have gone out of our way to demonize law enforcement to a point where fewer people want the job and record numbers of cops are retiring on top of “cashless” bail and other lax enforcement practices, that more people feel the need to own and carry weapons for self protection. I highly doubt stricter gun laws will get passed on any kind of broad scale as long as government either cannot or will not provide for safe living environments.

Gun laws and possession of an unlicensed weapon is just another law whose violation will get you a slap on the wrist.

Crime against property and people has been going down for decades. That's the reality. The idea that law enforcement can't protect you is simply manufactured by media pushing an agenda.

What we have left is mass shootings because our nation is awash in guns. Rank stupidity, but then, that's the world the GOP wants.

If you're going to allow everyone to carry guns everywhere, how is it the government's fault when people pull them out and open fire?

And the "demonizing law enforcement" is pure bullshit. Law enforcement must be held accountable for their actions, and if they don't like that idea, then they should never be cops.

Man arrested in road rage shooting that shut down I-94 in Ypsilanti
A 25-year-old man from Belleville was arrested Thursday, Feb. 22, after a road rage shooting closed down the eastbound lanes of I-94 in Ypsilanti.

According to authorities, the incident started in Saline when the suspect cut off the victim on Michigan Avenue. Police said when they got on I-94, the victim passed the suspect, who began tailgating them. When the victim slowed, police said the man pulled alongside them and waved a gun out the window, causing the victim to speed off in an attempt to evade them.

When the man from Belleville got alongside the victim again, police said he first the gun at the victim’s vehicle, hitting it twice. The driver was not injured.

When fleeing the scene, the man from Belleville sped off, lost control of the vehicle and crashed.....

DA won't prosecute rider who disarmed, shot man on Brooklyn subway

The Brooklyn district attorney's office will not prosecute a subway rider who disarmed and shot a 36-year-old fare-beater after an argument aboard a train at the start of the evening rush a day ago, a spokesperson said Friday.

"Yesterday's shooting inside a crowded subway car was shocking and deeply upsetting," spokesman Oren Yaniv said in a statement. "The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing but, at this stage, evidence of self-defense precludes us from filing any criminal charges against the shooter."

Killer cornered in NJ home after killing spree in PA

https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/16/us/shoot ... index.html
A man has barricaded himself in a home in Trenton, New Jersey, after killing three people in Falls Township, Pennsylvania, Saturday morning, according to local officials.

The suspect, identified by police as 26-year-old Andre Gordon, allegedly killed three people at two different homes in Pennsylvania before carjacking a driver and heading for New Jersey. In Trenton, he barricaded himself in a home. The residents of the home have been safely evacuated, according to New Jersey police.
The bad guy is armed with at least an automatic rifle. At this time, it's a classic SWAT standoff. We all know how those usually end.

We got lucky, the bad guy panicked and fled the home on foot, and SWAT caught him.

Three police officers shot in Memphis overnight. One dead, one is stable and the other was treated and released. One suspect dead and another arrested. Suspects are 18 and 17. The police chief and the mayor just finished speaking calling for “community” action to hold these types of folks “accountable”. I have to scratch my head and ask how the fuck such people get themselves elected. The community put them in those positions to lead and all they seem to be able to do is makes excuses and react.

One of those felons was recently arrested in a stolen car with a weapon modified to fully automatic. He was release without bond. What’s the community supposed to do? They report these crimes, the police make an arrest and the local DA releases the kid back out onto the street to reoffend. I’m thinking you can pass all kinds of gun laws but if you don’t enforce those laws what good are they? What good are DA’s who won’t prosecute? What good are city council members and legislators who can only make excuses and refuse to hold people to account for the law.

I think the “community” accountability should start with throwing these idiots out of office and elect somebody who gives a shit about the law and public safety. Hold “them” accountable for the job they were elected to do and the results thereof. This isn’t a gun problem as much as it is an attitude problem with public officials. Justice is supposed to be blind. Instead we sacrifice law and order and public safety for political correctness. Everybody suffers as a result. No one is safer.

That is becoming a common occurrence. Judge let's bad guy out of jail. Bad guy continues to be a bad guy. Why it's almost as if liberalism doesn't work.

Let's just remember that it's YOUR side that wants to make all guns legal to everyone including fully automatic weapons.

And yes, it's a gun problem. You don't have a problem when cops murder and are set free.

How many more prisons are you wanting to build? Will you pay higher taxes to do so?

All Glenn and you wants to do is to say it's all the fault of liberals. You can NEVER look YOURSELVES in the mirror and say your side did anything wrong.

I don’t have a “side”. That’s all you seem to focus upon. More excuses.

You could pass hundreds of gun laws but if you don’t enforce or won’t enforce the ones currently on the books, what makes you think new laws will work any better? This kids was arrested previously for grand theft with a modified fully automatic weapon and then released back onto the street without bond. Maybe you can explain how that makes the community safer. I don’t see it.

And yeah GoU. If we need to build more prisons in order to make the country safer, that’s the price you pay. Releasing violent repeat offenders back onto the street doesn’t seem to be working. We know who these folks are. The 20% who do 80% of violent crime. We know who they are. We’ve known them for years. We used to lock them up. Not anymore. Now we are politically correct but the problem is they don’t give a shit for political correctness. They just continue to create more victims. One primary job of government is public safety. If they can’t do that then they are failing in their primary mission. Failing and miserably.

So this your side my side bullshit you seem so focused on gets us nowhere. Never has.

"We know who they are" is code for "they are black".

And we already have one of the highest incarceration rates in the world, topped only by countries like El Salvadore and Cuba.

And let's remember the murder rate is DOWN. FACT. https://www.axios.com/2023/12/28/us-mur ... rates-drop
Driving the news: "Murder plummeted in the United States in 2023, likely at one of the fastest rates of decline ever recorded," writes Jeff Asher, co-founder of AH Datalytics, which tracks homicide numbers across the country.

By the numbers: Preliminary public data from 177 cities analyzed by AH Datalytics indicates that the country could see at least a 12% decrease in murders from last year.
  • Declines have been seen in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit and other large cities.
  • The firm expects homicides overall to fall from 21,156 last year to around 18,450 this year, representing a 12.8% decline.
  • Other forms of violent crime — rape, aggravated assault and robbery — are set to see a decline as well, according to preliminary quarterly data published by the FBI earlier this month.
  • However, motor vehicle thefts are set to rise, which may be the result of defects within specific models — such as some Kia and Hyundai vehicles — that make them easier to steal.
Joe, you care to explain to me why the homicide rate is so much lower than it was during the Ronald Reagan years?

Maybe because the changed the reporting system used by the FBI and many municipalities are using estimates or not reporting at all.

That’s hilarious, Mr. Accountant, that you just go into denial when presented with facts. You just decide that it can’t be true, because Fox News says we’re in grave danger of the blacks murdering us in our sleep.

Look, Joe, you’re obviously in a MUCH nicer neighborhood than I am. Are YOU afraid of being murdered in your sleep? Or being overrun by immigrants? Hell, are they mowing your lawn?

I’m not worried. Oh, we’ve had some burglaries, and porch pirates. I keep my door locked, and my car doors locked when they’re outside. I even lock them at the gym or the store. But I don’t live my life in fear. I didn’t even live my life in fear when I lived in the DC area.

And yes, when you resort to “those people”, which of course you did, race baiting is EXACTLY what you did. So your big issues are crime and immigration. Oh, wait, people with brown skin. Who’da thunkit? Your problem, not mine.

Are you demanding the end to bail? Yes or no.

You see, you're saying that YOU know who is guilty or not guilty, in advance, and to go around the justice system.

Joe are you a fucking judge? Yes or no?

Maybe you should run for such office.

Maine lawmakers reject bill for lawsuits against gunmakers and advance others after mass shooting

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine lawmakers turned down a proposal to allow residents to sue gunmakers over injuries stemming from illegal gun sales while advancing several other proposals after last year’s Lewiston mass shooting.

The Maine House of Representatives previously passed the proposal about illegal gun sales, but the Maine Senate rejected it Friday night. The proposal was designed to let residents sue manufacturers over both injuries from illegal gun sales and deceptive marketing, the Bangor Daily News reported.

Joe says “we know who they are, lock them up’. No need for trials, no need for “innocent before proven guilty” - that’s only for affluent white people, not poor blacks. Give the police stormtrooper powers, no bail for blacks, and build however many prisons it takes to house the entire black population.

There are just some people that are genetically predisposed to criminality, right, Joe? Imprison them before they commit any crimes and we’re all safe!

And those stats showing that the crime and murder rates are lower than they were under President Reagan?

Well, obviously they just aren’t true. Can’t be, right Joe?
