This Sunday marks five years since George Floyd was murdered by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. In a video that shocked the world and spurred a global movement for racial justice, Chauvin pinned Floyd to the ground with a knee to his neck for eight minutes while Floyd gasped for air. Floyd repeatedly said, “I can’t breathe.”

Despite the nationwide uprising that followed Floyd’s killing, Congress failed to pass legislation that sought to reduce racial profiling and the use of force by law enforcement. The Trump Justice Department dismissed police reform and oversight agreements in Minneapolis and Louisville earlier this week, just days ahead of the fifth anniversary. LITTLE RIVER, S.C. (AP) — At least 11 people were taken to hospitals after a shooting Sunday night in a South Carolina beach town, authorities said.

Horry County Police did not give the conditions of anyone hurt or detail how they were injured in the incident, which happened about 9:30 p.m. in Little River.

5 shot, 1 fatally, in gunfight at outdoor gathering in Virginia, say police

At least five people were shot, one fatally, early Sunday when a gunfight erupted between two groups of people at a large outdoor gathering in Danville, Virginia, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on private property in the town near the North Carolina border, the Danville Police Department said in a statement.

2 killed, including officer, in California shooting, sheriff says

Two Southern California police officers were shot, one fatally, when they were ambushed Saturday night and got into a gunfight with a suspect shortly after he allegedly killed a man, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 7:12 p.m. Pacific time in the Los Angeles County city of Baldwin Park after two police officers responded to a reports of a man firing a rifle in a residential neighborhood, according to a statement released Sunday by the city of Baldwin Park.

Mass shooting investigation underway near Hickory, at least 12 victims confirmed

HICKORY, N.C. — One person is dead and 11 others were hurt in a mass shooting early Sunday morning near Hickory, the Catawba County Sheriff's Office said.

The deadly shooting happened at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Authorities found 12 gunshot victims at 1125 Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View area of southwest Catawba County.

BOLO: White, medium build, brown hair. The suspect was last seen wearing a black vest, blue pants, blue shirt resembling a police officers uniform.

All but the St. Paul No Kings demonstrations were cancelled because of it. The shelter in place is still on (we are right on the border of that zone.) and everyone has been informed to not answer the door if it's just one officer. Any police officers coming to your door during the search will come in pairs of two.

Officials tell the AP they are searching for a 57-year-old man in shooting 2 Minnesota lawmakers

Police were searching for the gunman responsible for the attacks on the Democratic legislators. Writings found inside a fake police car recovered at one of the shooting scenes mentioned the names of multiple lawmakers and other officials, Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said.

Two people familiar with the matter identified the suspect being sought as 57-year-old Vance Boelter. The people could not publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

I was watching one report where the news anchor asked the reporter besides all the emergency vehicles in the area if they were seeing helicopters and they said no, no helicopters or drones were visible in the skies and that seemed kind of weird considering all the helicopters and drones over the protests but after state representatives are gunned down it was as if they werent really looking for anyone in the area.

Of course they are going to monitor pre planned demonstrations that have turned violent in the past. On the other hand...it takes time to deploy helicopters and drones in an emergency situation. Well I don't know that's what the reporter said who was in the immediate area. Wonder if the shooter is a member of the local chamber of commerce or something. It sure is sad and terrible and all the while all day long trump is glorifying violence and in LA the authorities trying to provoke it.

The company offered licensed armed security patrols, uniformed security and event security, with the latter service coming soon.

“We drive the same make and model of vehicles that many police departments use in the U.S.,” the website said. “Currently we drive Ford Explorer Utility Vehicles.”

In 2019, Walz named Boelter and dozens of others to his Governor’s Workforce Development Board, which according to the governor's website assists the governor in "developing, implementing, and modifying the state plan, review of statewide policies and programs, providing recommendations on actions to align and improve the workforce development system and programs," and other state matters.....

Another lesson on bi-partisanship that consists of leaning and pushing legislation, boards, policies more towards authoritarianism and right wing extremisms than the needs of the public or justice.

The wife of a man accused of killing a Democratic congressman and her husband was taken into custody during a traffic check after police found a gun, ammo, cash, and passports in the trunk of her vehicle.

In Onamia, Minnesota, cops halted Jenny Boelter at around 10 a.m. on Saturday, according to local news KTSP. However, it was unclear if the stop was a regular stop or a premeditated raid by law enforcement as part of their efforts to find Vance Luther Boelter, 57, who is suspected of murder

Court documents reveal details of initial police response in shooting of two MN lawmakers

According to the Associated Press, Boelter was found in the woods near his home in Green Isle.

The Faribault Police Department say one of its drones, deployed by the South Metro SWAT team, aided in successfully locating Boelter.

“Working in tandem with another drone team, the Faribault drone and its operator successfully located Boelter,” the police department said on Facebook. “The drones maintained their position overhead, providing critical intelligence until responding SWAT teams could apprehend Boelter without incident.

Boelter is now in custody and is expected to appear in court Monday morning.

Once the Brooklyn Park police learned about the shooting in Champlin, officers were proactively sent to patrol the home of Speaker Emerita and DFL Leader Hortman and her family.

When officers arrived around 3:35 a.m. the Ford SUV with police-style lights was parked in the driveway and officers reportedly witnessed Boelter allegedly shoot the Speaker’s husband, Mark.

The complaint says police exchanged gunfire with Boelter before he fled inside the residence and escaped the area. Inside the home, both Speaker Hortman and her husband had been found dead.

Upon searching the Ford SUV, officers found three AK-47 assault rifles, a 9mm handgun, as well as a list of names and addresses of other public officials.

Unfortunately they didn't arrive in time but they did stop him from carrying out his desire to finish his hitlist.

A sergeant’s intuition yielded early leads

Amid the exchange of gunfire, the impersonator retreated into the home, past Mark Hortman, the speaker’s husband, who had been shot multiple times and was just inside the threshold.

The officers pulled Mark Hortman outside and attempted first aid. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead soon after.

With the suspect still seemingly inside, officers surrounded the home and called for help. When the SWAT team arrived, police sent a drone into the Hortman home, which is tucked near the end of a suburban street, its back facing the Edinburgh Golf Course.

Video footage from the drone revealed Melissa Hortman – the top Democrat in the state House of Representatives and a mother of two – dead inside.

The suspect was gone, sparking a search that would conclude 43 hours later with his arrest in the woods of Sibley County – and an investigation that would reveal he had also intended to target two other state lawmakers.

A couple of notebooks were found in his fake cop car. They had upwards of 40 names listed. Names, locations, and for some an attack plan which leads the authorities to believe he had been stalking them before hand. Most all of them Minnesota Democrats by name.

How Minnesota shooting conspiracy theories took over social media feeds

“These types of conspiracy theories or disinformation campaigns — they serve political interests,” said Jeffrey Blevins, a professor at the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Cincinnati.

“Instead of, ‘Look how radicalized my side of the aisle has become’ — oh, no, ‘it’s their side of the aisle that is radicalized, and we don’t have to deal with this now. It’s their fault,’” he said.

Nathan Walter, an associate professor of communications studies at Northwestern University, said online rumors are especially successful if they’re established early in the news cycle, as appeared to happen in Minnesota’s news vacuum.

“There’s this rush to create the first narrative, and this is really crucial if you want to spread misinformation. And it’s not very difficult, because it will always take more time for the real information to come out,” he said.

“Once the narrative takes hold, it’s very, very difficult to debunk,” he said.

We are now 4 days into the investigation and the picture is becoming a bit more clear. A clear picture of the motive will take more time. So, it can't really be said for sure but it looks like he was one of theirs. But to say it for certain will take more time.
