Eh, the shit he talks is plain as day and old as the hills.

Like Mutha in the video, all he does is repeat what’s been drilled into his head by conservatism.

The Troll thinks (if we can that word when disucssing him) he using latching on to somethhing so new and revolutionary that the rest of us mere mortals will be in shock an awe of his genius.

But NO. The Troll is peddling the same tired, worn out and over used shit espoused by Nathan Bedford Forrest, George Lincoln Rockwell and David Duke.

The Troll is NOT saying anything new, it's the brand new meat loaf receipe that turns out the old receipe, but just written differently.

Racism is hardly new. Islamophobia is hardly new. Homophobia is hardly new. But for the Troll, he wants to believe its new format makes it delightfully different.

The Troll is just another bigot. He is not new. I've dealt with him all my life. He thinks his skin color makes him special and his belief in his form of his Mystical/Mythical/Magical Non-Existent Sky Man will grant him a free pass to hate anyone he wants

The Beer Belly Troll Truck Driver, the Troll is his own caricature.

At least those guys have the integrity to not pretend they’re “open minded” or centrist or pro-lgbt or pro-Puerto Rican or whatever. :problem:

Same old conservative extremism, different millennium. :problem:

Glennfs’s posts are really good samples of just how common and banal white supremacism and it’s misogyny, ageism, and homophobia are in the US; and how deeply imbedded it is into the average, run-of-the-mill, depraved white con.

Florida bans selection of math text books for critical race theory reasons
The books were "not appropriately aligned with Florida standards"
https://www.salon.com/2022/04/16/florid ... s_partner/

The state of Florida is rejecting 28 mathematics textbooks as a result of Republicans' purported outrage over Critical Race Theory.

On Friday, Florida Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran announced that the state had rejected the math textbooks under the state's Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) standards.

"The approved list followed a thorough review of submissions at the Department, which found 41 percent of the submitted textbooks were impermissible with either Florida's new standards or contained prohibited topics – the most in Florida's history. Reasons for rejecting textbooks included references to Critical Race Theory (CRT), inclusions of Common Core, and the unsolicited addition of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in mathematics," the department announced.

"The highest number of books rejected were for grade levels K-5, where an alarming 71 percent were not appropriately aligned with Florida standards or included prohibited topics and unsolicited strategies. Despite rejecting 41 percent of materials submitted, every core mathematics course and grade is covered with at least one textbook," the department said.

Corcoran has been pushing the moral panic over Critical Race Theory.

In a December press release from Gov. Ron DeSantis, Corcoran claimed, "our classrooms, students and even teachers are under constant threat by Critical Race Theory advocates."

DeSantis praised the banning of math textbooks.

"I'm grateful that Commissioner Corcoran and his team at the Department have conducted such a thorough vetting of these textbooks to ensure they comply with the law," DeSantis said after Corcoran found 21% of math textbooks "incorporate prohibited topics or unsolicited strategies, including CRT."

I can't fathom why this guy is popular; this to me is sheer lunacy, indication that the lunatics have taken over and are running the asylum.

Republicans are dusting off a tried and true election strategy: hatemongering - Guardian column
Male voters have been drifting right in record numbers – and Republicans are taking a viciously homophobic and sexist tack to appeal to them

The alarm over so-called ‘groomers’ has led to Florida’s ‘don’t say gay’ bill banning classroom discussion of homosexuality, among other retrograde laws.

The 2022 midterm elections are shaping up to be among the most deeply gender-divided elections in American history. A new poll by NBC News, measuring voters’ preferences ahead of the November elections, shows that the gap in women and men’s voting patterns has deepened considerably over the past 12 years, with Republicans holding an 18-point advantage among men, and Democrats holding a 15-point advantage among women. That 33-point gender gap is up from a 16-point divide in the 2010 midterms.

Despite the large degree of analytical attention that has focused on the voting habits of suburban white women, it seems that it’s men who are changing their voting habits most dramatically. The NBC News polling shows that men with college degrees have moved dramatically to the right, lurching towards Republicans by 26 points since just 2018. Men on the whole have moved towards Republicans by 20 points.

The Republican party’s exploding support among men comes as the organs of rightwing media and many Republican politicians have embraced a vitriolic language of gender grievance. For months now, the conservative media has been hammering a message of gender and sexual disorder, seeking to stoke the fears, bigotry and resentment of its audience against the social and legal gains that have been made by women and LGBT groups over the past decades. This message has been enthusiastically taken up by Republican politicians, and issues of sexual anxiety have come to preoccupy every level of American government, from local school board meetings to the recent confirmation hearings of a new supreme court justice.

It is hard to define the exact moment when men’s gender grievance came to preoccupy the Republican party. With Republicans’ long commitment to anti-choice and anti-trans bills over the past few years, the issue has had longstanding resonance among the base. But a shift seemed to occur last September, when Pete Buttigieg, the secretary of transportation, announced that he would be taking parental leave after he and his husband adopted a pair of newborn twins. Tucker Carlson, the Fox News broadcaster who serves as a weathervane for so much conservative grievance politics, attacked Buttigieg on his show. “Paternity leave, they call it. Trying to figure out how to breastfeed. No word on how that went.”

So, I had to google what SEL was, and now I have ...

Fundamentals of SEL
https://casel.org/fundamentals-of-sel/

We define social and emotional learning (SEL) as an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

SEL advances educational equity and excellence through authentic school-family-community partnerships to establish learning environments and experiences that feature trusting and collaborative relationships, rigorous and meaningful curriculum and instruction, and ongoing evaluation. SEL can help address various forms of inequity and empower young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe, healthy, and just communities.

[snip][end]

First off, why would deStupid and his Merry Crew want to keep such things out of Florida school texts?

Also, aren't they (supposedly) all about parental involvement in schooling? What is their problem with this?

Aside from the fact that CRT isn't taught in K-12, for sure, it is NOT in K-12 math textbooks. It has apparently become their 2 Minute Hate/Immanuel Goldstein, I guess than can see or find it anywhere ... their phantom menace ...

Cons have been told by their propaganda outlets that SEL is gay. Oh and Muslim.

Oh and masks, too! See how "mask" is similar to "mosk"????????

Karen Schlaffly is on the case, tho! Like these propagandists and duped minions in 2022, she also frames the issue in terms of "common sense," as if what they think, feel, and desire is the default for everyone on planet earth.

Censorship battles’ new frontier: Your public library - WP
Conservatives are teaming with politicians to remove books and gut library boards

Llano joins a growing number of communities across America where conservatives have mounted challenges to books and other content related to race, sex, gender and other subjects they deem inappropriate. A movement that started in schools has rapidly expanded to public libraries, accounting for 37 percent of book challenges last year, according to the American Library Association. Conservative activists in several states, including Texas, Montana and Louisiana have joined forces with like-minded officials to dissolve libraries’ governing bodies, rewrite or delete censorship protections, and remove books outside of official challenge procedures.

The only CRT related math question I could imagine these books containing is “Zero Florida schools teach CRT. If that number is doubled, how many Florida schools would then be teaching CRT?” And for those in Florida who won’t be learning math anymore, the answer is zero.

College Board warns students, schools could lose AP classes over CRT-inspired legislation
https://www.indystar.com/story/news/edu ... 381566002/

[snip]

The College Board's Advanced Placement Program said that it will remove the AP designation from courses when required topics are banned, a move that would jeopardize the ability of high school students to earn college credit for success in those courses.

The AP Program, which enables students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school, issued a “Dear Colleague” letter Wednesday in response, it said, to hearing from AP teachers across the country who are concerned about the integrity of their classrooms.

[snip]

The letter from the AP Program seems to be speaking to many of the concerns raised in Indiana, and elsewhere.

It lists seven principles upon which the AP Program is built, including “an unflinching encounter with evidence,” opposition to censorship and indoctrination and “an open-minded approach to the histories and cultures of different peoples.”

Should schools, presumably on their own at the behest of state or local government, violate these principles, the letter says they could lose their AP Program designation. It gives as an example the concepts of evolution.

[snip][end]

Congratulations, Indiana, FL, and other states; your laws could be costing your students AP College credit.

The Indiana law in question forbids teaching that any political affiliation is superior or inferior to another. Grand, so that means a teacher could be in violation for suggesting it's better to be a (small d) democrat than a Nazi, a Nihilist, or a Communist, for that matter.

Indiana is a notorious KKK state, so no wonder these anti-education white cons feel the need to scrub their own histories. We can NOT let little Brayden find out that Great-Grandpa Jack used to advertise his stripmining business in the local White Citizens Council newsletter!

But since their own state archives, public U. and historical societies have tons of online materials and finding aids, good luck to them with that effort…

Ku Klux Klan in Indiana - In.gov

Collection: Digital Archive: Fiery Cross - Indiana University Libraries

1920s KKK membership records from HamCo open to public at the Indiana Historical Society - Indy Star, this article has the search function built right into it

1920s Indiana Ku Klux Klan - C-SPAN

Klan Records: Wayne County KKK Records Paint Picture of Klan Life in 1920s Indiana and Offer Data about Our Ancestors - Indiana Historical Society Press

TAG ARCHIVES: KU KLUX KLAN - Monroe County History Center

This is just a tiny drop in the bucket of what’s available. Let ‘em go play whack-a-mole with that.

Rick Pearlstein buries conservative bothsidesry in the press, and exposes it for the fascist-enabling, gaslighting propaganda it is
__________

Rick Pearlstein
@rickpearlstein

I just got an interview request from a reporter at an agenda-setting DC publication. It began, "I'm working on a magazine story about political buzzwords (i.e. 'critical race theory,' 'equity,' 'cancel culture,' etc.)"—then went on...

"...and how liberals and conservatives ascribe different meanings to them. I'm not as much interested in who's more 'right' about what something like 'critical race theory' means, as the ways in which the definitions differ depending on who you ask..."

"I was wondering if you'd be willing to chat for a bit this week or next about that and how you make sense of this moment." With Eric Boehlert gone, I'm less inclined to let stuff like this slide. So I took up the invitation to "chat," with an email reading thus:

"his framing is horrifying to me, the sort of thing that actively contributes to the destruction of American democracy. These are not 'political buzzwords' to which liberals and conservatives 'ascribe different meanings'...

"...but products of careful propaganda campaigns to seed moral panics in order to roll back human rights for everyone who is not conservative, using techniques quite similar to Nazi propagandists..."

"This also represents atrociously biased journalism. When one side is willing to lie, cheat, and steal to achieve political dominance, and the gatekeeping media represents their efforts as one 'side' in some neutral political debate..."

"...you are acting as a convey belt to aid and abet their strategy of dominance.

If you're open to a statement about that, I can prepare something for the record.

Regards,
Rick"

Like I keep saying, go to a freaking law dictionary in any public library and look up 'critical race theory". It has an objective definition. It wasn't written by a liberal or a conservative. It has an objective meaning and any law school will gladly define it for you.

I weep for my country. It isn't what one "side" says or thinks about it. It just IS.

California residents who are members of federally recognized Native tribes will have their tuition and fees at University of California schools waived, according to a letter sent Friday.

In the letter, sent by system President Michael V. Drake to UC chancellors and also shared with CNN, Drake announced the waived tuition and fees specifically for “California residents who are members of federally recognized Native American, American Indian, and Alaska Native tribes.” The move is a key part of the UC Native American Opportunity Plan, he said, aiming to make the university system more affordable and accessible for Native American students. The waived fees will apply to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Love of Country is not Blind Patriotism. It is not devotion to one person or one party. It is knowing fighting for your country is single most important thing you can do. Do not accept the notion violence is the answer.
