I’m not arguing for teaching flat earth or creationism. I’m just pointing out that teachers and school boards can draw all the lines they choose. But parents and taxpayers elect the school board. Ultimately, they draw the lines. So school boards and teachers may dismiss them as ignorant. They may ignore them. They can complain to the DOJ. But they do so at their own peril. Personally, I think instead of talking down to them, they should treat them with the same respect that any professional would treat a client. But that’s just me.

If the community objects and the school board can’t sell it to them or explain it to them, then those parents can put up candidates for the school board that share their philosophy for education or as you say, they can pursue other educational alternatives. However, if the school board decides against what some teachers favor, then I guess those teachers or administrators have decisions to make as well. They can go elsewhere. Public schools are accountable to the public and elections do have consequences.

I’m not advocating for such nuclear options. I’m glad that more parents are actively involved in education.
