Trump asks appeals court to block 2020 election prosecution

Donald Trump on Saturday night urged a federal appeals court to dismiss special counsel Jack Smith’s criminal case against him for seeking to subvert the 2020 election, contending that he is “absolutely immune” from the charges because they related to his official duties as president.

In a 71-page opening brief filed with the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, Trump’s attorneys said the prosecution’s charges primarily focus on his efforts to lobby state and federal officials to reverse the election results, actions that they claim were within Trump’s official responsibilities to ensure the 2020 election was conducted fairly.

Masked Singer contestant John Schneider could be under Secret Service investigation after saying Biden should be ‘publicly hung’

Former Dukes of Hazzard star and current Masked Singer contestant John Schneider may be facing a Secret Service investigation after sharing a social media post calling for President Joe Biden to be “publicly hung.”

Earlier this week, Schneider was unmasked on the popular Fox singing competition show, performing Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful” while disguised as a donut. But the 63-year-old actor later made headlines after he shared a post on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, accusing the president of being a traitor and calling for him to be publicly executed.

Ted Nugent Blames Biden For Treason

In a new episode of his podcast ‘Spirit Campfire,’ shared on Real America’s Voice website, Ted Nugent focused on Joe Biden’s border policies. The teaser he posted on Instagram showed him accusing the US President of ‘treason,’ as the singer said:

“Danger! Danger zone, truth, logic, and common sense! I know there’s a lot of ugliness out there personified by Joe Biden. I don’t think that’s even really Joe Biden. Whatever that thing is, [it] is just pure rot.”

A lot of my favorite guitar heroes have turned out to be absolute fascists. You can add Eric Clapton to the list.

I have no idea worth expressing in public as to the reason for this phenomenon, if there even is one.

‘Swamped with death threats’: CO Sec. of State on fallout from Trump ballot ruling

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold joins Ali Velshi to discuss her reaction to the the state’s Supreme Court deeming Trump ineligible to run for higher office after finding Trump engaged in insurrection and the death threats she and other judges have received in the aftermath of the ruling. “It’s one of the reasons Trump is so dangerous to this country. In this country, people win and lose court cases and elections [but] we have to agree the systems have the outcomes that are correct,” Griswold says. “The use of violence to try and intimidate us is unacceptable in a democracy.” She also reaffirms that Colorado will have a Republican presidential primary, despite reports the state’s Republican party is seeking to cancel them in response to the ruling.

Lauren Boebert will switch congressional districts to improve her chances of winning in 2024

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert announced Wednesday night that she is ditching her reelection bid next year in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District to run instead in the state’s 4th Congressional District, which is on the other side of the state and is far more favorable to Republicans.

Boebert won by just 546 votes last year in the 3rd District, which spans Colorado’s Western Slope into Pueblo and southeastern Colorado. The 4th District is anchored in Douglas County and includes Loveland and the state’s rural Eastern Plains.

Intruder breaks into building of Colorado Supreme Court, allegedly fires shots and is arrested

An intruder shot out a window of the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center, entered the building, and held an unarmed security guard at gunpoint early Tuesday morning. The suspect was arrested after allegedly firing additional shots and starting a fire inside the building that is the home of the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Colorado State Patrol said in a press release this all started with a two-vehicle crash at 13th and Lincoln Streets where one individual reportedly pointed a handgun at another driver around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Stories about criminals being criminals should have their own thread otherwise just about anything anyone does, whether they're a member of the GOP, would be posted here. There are enough stupid criminals out there to make it one of the longest threads.

Stefanik takes victory lap over Harvard president’s exit

Rep. Elise Stefanik, the New York Republican who chairs the House GOP conference and serves as the fourth in line in the majority party’s leadership ranks, took a victory lap as Harvard University President Claudine Gay announced her resignation Tuesday.

“TWO DOWN,” Stefanik posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, following Gay’s announcement. “Harvard knows that this long overdue forced resignation of the antisemitic plagiarist president is just the beginning of what will be the greatest scandal of any college or university in history.”

Jimmy Kimmel Threatens Lawsuit Over Aaron Rodgers' Epstein List Comment

The ongoing feud between former Cal star Aaron Rodgers and late-night TV talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel was cranked up a notch on Tuesday when Kimmel suggested he might take Rodgers to court for comments Rogers make on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday.

Rodgers, now the New York Jets quarterback, suggested -- joked? -- on "The Pat McAfee Show" that Kimmel's name might turn up when the Epstein list of associates was revealed.

‘A bully’: the billionaire who led calls for Claudine Gay’s Harvard exit

Chief among the campaigners celebrating the resignation of Claudine Gay as president of Harvard University was a man who arguably did the most to push Gay, Harvard’s first Black president, out the door: Bill Ackman, a billionaire hedge-fund manager and Harvard alumnus.

Ackman, who accused Gay of antisemitism and plagiarism, was a major player in what increasingly became a rightwing campaign against the Harvard president – who said many of the attacks against her were “fueled by racial animus”.

President of Belarus gives himself immunity from prosecution and limits potential challengers

TALLINN, Estonia (AP) — President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus signed a new law Thursday that gives him lifelong immunity from criminal prosecution and prevents opposition leaders living abroad from running in future presidential elections.

The law theoretically applies to any former president and members of his or her family. In reality, it only is relevant to the 69-year-old Lukashenko, who has ruled Belarus with an iron fist for almost 30 years.

Driver crashes into White House exterior gate, Secret Service says

A driver was taken into custody Monday night after crashing into a White House exterior gate, a Secret Service spokesman said.

The driver collided with the gate shortly before 6 p.m. local time, Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said. Police cleared the vehicle less than two hours later.

Aaron Rodgers Appears on ‘Pat McAfee Show’ One Day After Host Said NFL Star Would Not Return Amid Jimmy Kimmel Feud

One day after Pat McAfee announced that Aaron Rodgers would not return on his sports talk show for the rest of the season, the football star made a surprise appearance to discuss NFL developments including Nick Saban’s retirement and Bill Belichick’s departure from the New England Patriots.

McAfee on Thursday suggested he received backlash for booting the NFL star off of his show. “That was wild, we were getting absolutely killed,” he said. “They were like, ‘You turned your back on Aaron Rodgers!’ Do you know how many things I’ve been through with Aaron Rodgers in our short relationship? I was not pumped to be in the middle of any of that.”
