I don't know who started "redneck" and I've seen various stories for its origin. I do know that it too is derogatory, though often in usage one will find that it isn't. It is seemingly less ethnically based, since it's not really applicable to all whites, just the ones who weren't rich enough to be either college educated or socially desirable. Obama was still the n-word, but by no stretch was JFK a redneck.
We're all niggers, to them.

Cons are so unoriginal and unable to come up with your own ideas, now some of you are even utilizing "LGBT" as "let's go brandon tribe," or somesuch ignorant trash.

But then, we're living in an age where a lot of you are so supremacist, you now think you're the country's most discriminated-against minority.

The Troll Said: Bullshit I did not use it in a racist context.

There is only ONE context for the "N" word. It is racist. Regardless of purpose or intent it is still racist and you are so fucking proud of yourself for finally being able to use that word on this forum. It is a digusting, horrid, ugly, mean and RACIST WORD.

Fuck Off Troll.

carmenjonze wrote: Sun May 01, 2022 5:02 pm False equivalence. Both are epithets. But so are words like "dork" and "nerd." So, your bullcrap comparison ends there.

A reminder of just a few of the differences between "redneck" and "nigger:

No Black person has ever:

• made laws that forced "rednecks" into separate and inequal conditions

• barred "rednecks" from an education

• used derivatives of "redneck" as judges and lawyers in courts of law

• made "rednecks" ride the back of the bus

• forced "rednecks" to drink from separate water fountains and sit in separate waiting rooms

• disenfranchised "rednecks"

• forced "rednecks" step off the sidewalk when walking down the street

• deputized people of African descent all over the country to carry out mob justice against "rednecks"

• murdered "redneck" men for looking at a Black woman, and then refused to pass anti-lynching legislation until 2022.

No Black person has ever seceded I mean tried to form a new country in order own, buy, sell, breed, and rape "rednecks."

Can't say the same for so-called rednecks. "Rednecks" still fly an old slavery/segregation flag at GOP rallies and own it in the form of t-shirts and other apparrel.

"Rednecks" and other conservative whites have done all these things and more to people of African descent, and both vote to keep doing so through the current GOP.
And The Troll is absolutely beside himself with glee at acutally getting to use it on this forum.

We already know The Troll is racist, all he has done is prove it.

There is only one context of the word and context is racist.

The Troll should apologize to members of this forum for using it...but he won't.

Conservatives in general, as long as I have been aware of such things, have sought to interpret our whole lives to us. This interpretation, of course, is always in their terms.

One will find academic definitions of conservatism that actually suggest a historical political orientation with a high aspiration to making better lives for the largest possible number of people, but that interpretation seems to be in short supply right now in the real world. The commonly accepted definition seems to suggest a desire to restore a largely illusory or even mythopoeic past simply by reversing the gains made in civil rights and general equality of all humans. The most reactionary definition seems to advocate a return to seventeenth century Europe, ruled by a divinely ordained hierarchy with the lucky sperms at the top and you at or near the bottom.

That's one reason why I really don't like most conservatives very much. All too often, they think and act as if they know more about how I should run my life than I do.

Well, they're entitled supremacists and also conformists.

It's this conformist attitude that makes guys like Glennsf think anyone is going to automatically agree with his demonstrably false assertions.

And then you get the colonizer white supremacism, which has told them for centuries that their violence and discrimination in fact brings civilization to everyone they come in contact with, particularly those of us with darker skin. That's all Glennfs is doing here.

So, owning the libs will have to do, I guess.

No but it seems you want a place for affirmation. As opposed as a place where your opinion might get challenged.

Jesus God I can't believe that 40 years into rap genre we still have to explain this. Typically to people who don't even listen to hip hop/rap.

There have always been longstanding moral panics around every African-American-derived music form, including African-American religious music.

Always by the people who never listen to it. Cripes, they outlawed Native American religious music, outright. Same mentality, even more lethal result.

Don't confuse your trolling with an actual challenge.

When actually challenged, you run away immediately, and have done so for years, and this board allows you to remain here despite your constant peddling of white supremacism and white nationalism.

And yet, you insult this board that hosts you day in and day out, because challenge the propaganda you regurgitate here.

"They're not letting me impose my bullshit as fact, so they're intolerant" is a supremacist point of view.

Yes, I am very intolerant of your misogyny and white supremacism. What are you going to do about it?

That reminds me of an incident when I was about 10 years old. My dad was stationed at NAS Memphis, in Millington, TN., and we went to one of his friends off=base house for a BBQ. The guy had a couple of kids and one of them was about my age, about 11-12 years old. While the grownups were talking and the other kids were outside playing, he turned on the radio and played rock-n-roll. He kept the volume low and told me not to say anything about listening to this music because his dad didn't want him listening to "Black Music." I think that was the first time I heard rock-n-roll music and I've never stopped listening to it. BTW, I never to his dad, or mine, that we listened to it.

To summarize a point Carmen knows well:

A lot of this country's most popular musical genres began with African-Americans. I'm not going to get into the whole appropriation debate, but it's a reality: people like Elvis made it acceptable for white kids to listen to and dance to. Well, most of the uber-religious rejected his swiveling hips as also doing the Devil's work, but still.

There are a lot of things people say dismissively about rap and hiphop, which if you know history, are very similar to the ways people dismissed rock and roll, then earlier, jazz. That is the cool thing about knowing history: you really do see how it repeats.

Anyway, Faux News hosts get stuck on this point, too. The "n word" is indeed in a lot of rap lyrics, but it has a different meaning in rap songs then when used by a KKK GM. That point needs to be understood ... I guess an analogy might be the word "bad". "That was a really bad song Bob wrote". "That race car driver is one really bad mofo." :D Which is to say, no, Tucker Carlson, just because they may use the "n word" in rap songs doesn't make it "OK" for places to be named "N--er Head Ranch" or for YOU to say that of black people. Sociolinguistics are a thing. Context in language matters.

You guys have been imitating and columbusing Black cultures from you guys’s negro minstrelsy into the present hour.

All while burning down Black neighborhoods, shooting up Black churches, restricting Black people from social and economic mobility, enabling killer cops, and passing voter restriction after voter restriction after voter restriction laws.

Then your kids utilize our cultural forms not out of interest or personal growth, but simply to get back at you. How come so many of you raise people this way, but then label OUR families dysfunctional? So weird.

These conservative whites/WSs think they’re being denied their natural God-given rights because they can’t go around calling Black people “boy” and “nigger” anymore, without getting punched in the face.

The White Citizens Councils at that time drummed up an entire campaign about negro records.

The language used to describe it is identical to the language used to describe ragtime, jazz, blues, rhythm and blues, funk, disco, and the hip hop of the past 40 years.

Conservative whites and other conservative culture vultures will also use the same exact language to describe whatever Black kids devise, next, too.
